Giraffe's Old Fashioned Low-Carb Barbeque Sauce

As far back as we can remember, we've LOVED our BBQ Sauces.  Whether the sauce has smothered chicken, pork, or even ribs, we have thoroughly enjoyed its flavor.  However, most BBQ Sauces contain a large amount of sugar, which notably increase our waistlines. 😊

We are therefore,  always searching for a low-carb alternative and have been for quite some time.  Throughout the years, a couple of brands have offered low-carb versions. However, they aren't always available or are difficult to find.

We finally discovered them online. However, their cost for shipping and the sauce itself is sometimes more than we would like to pay.

We then thought, there must be a way to create our own.  So, we experimented with a few recipes and finally was able to create our own low-carb version of the BBQ sauce - Giraffe's Old Fashioned Barbecue Sauce.

Our sauce is slightly smokey and peppery, with an excellent sweet flavor.

My husband had his own Internet show - The Kevin Kuretzky Show - on YouTube and Facebook.  So, we thought we would share the video of our BBQ Sauce from his Facebook page.

Our recipe is extremely easy to make, only taking about 10-20 minutes to prepare and to cook.

Our ingredients are as follows:

  • 1 cup Sweetener of choice
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup Reduced Sugar Ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp. Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 tsp. Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp. Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp. Paprika
  • 1 tsp. Chili Powder (or additional...to taste)
  • 1 tsp. Mustard
  • 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. Liquid Smoke
  • 1/2 tsp. Ground Black Pepper
We'll begin by placing our small saucepan on our burner, which is set to medium low or a simmer.

Next, we'll place our ketchup, sweetener, water, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Paprika, Chili Powder, mustard, Liquid Smoke, Worcestershire Sauce, and our Apple Cider Vinegar in our saucepan and will stir, until our mixture is well blended.

We enjoy our sauce to have a little kick. So, we'll then, add a heaping tsp. of Chili Powder to our sauce.

Depending on your liking, more or less of the Chili Powder may be added to our recipe.

Finally, we'll add about 1/2 tsp. of pepper to our sauce and will once again stir.

We'll then, set our timer to 15 minutes and will stir our sauce periodically, to avoid our liquid from sticking to our pot and burning.

Once our sauce thickens, it's ready Freddie!

Our sauce is excellent for dipping, marinating, or glazing whatever meat or fish dish you desire!

Last night, our dinner was a simple store bought Rotisserie Chicken.

Tonight, we'll simmer our leftover chicken in our smokey and peppery flavored low-carb BBQ Sauce to create another take on the same meal.

We also decided to glaze our baked pork steaks with our BBQ sauce, accompanied with our low-carb cauliflower fried rice.

Now, there's no more worrying about finding a low-carb BBQ Sauce in your local grocery stores, when you can make your own!

We hope you enjoy our sauce!

Smokey's Low-Carb Bacon Cheeseburger Quiche-erol

We discovered this amazingly cheesy and delicious dish a few months ago - kind of a mix between a quiche and a casserole.  We loved it so much, that we have been making it over and over again, every couple of weeks.

Our quiche-erol tastes very similar to a bacon double cheeseburger, with all of the condiments added. The eggs and cheese also makes the dish creamy and cheesy, which adds to the fun.

Not only is our casserole low carb, but, also very hearty and delicious! We've also found this dish to last for 2 dinners, which is also very economical.

Preparation time was about 5-10 minutes and cooking time, an additional 1 hour.

Our ingredients include:

  • 12 Eggs
  • 6 Tbsp. Reduced Sugar Ketchup
  • 3 Tbsp. Mustard
  • 3 Tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
  • 3 tsp. Hot Sauce
  • 3 Cloves Garlic
  • 3 lb. Ground Beef
  • 1 Package of Bacon
  • 1 8oz. Can of Mushrooms
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 Cup of Plain Greek Yogurt
  • 1 tsp. Ground Pepper
  • 1 tsp. Dill
  • 1 Large Bag of Shredded Cheese of Choice
  • 3/4th Cup of Heavy Whipping Cream
We'll begin by slicing our bacon into smaller pieces.

Next, we'll place our frying pan on our stove and will heat on medium heat.

We'll then, add our bacon to our skillet, will cover, and cook for about 10 minutes, or until our meat is somewhat crisp.

We'll make certain to stir our bacon, every so often, to avoid our meat from burning and sticking to our pan.

Next, we'll drain our grease, will pour our bacon in to a bowl, and will place aside for now.

We'll then, add our ground beef to our skillet, will cover, and cook for another 15 minutes, or until our meat is fully cooked.

Again, we'll make certain to stir our beef, every so often, to avoid our meat from burning and sticking to our pan.

While our ground beef is cooking, we'll peel and chop our onion using our amazing 1-Second Slicer, that we bought on Amazon.

We'll then, drain our grease, and will return our ground beef to our stove.

Next, we'll add our chopped onion and garlic to our beef mixture, will stir, cover, and cook for about 5 minutes, or until our onions appear to be translucent.

We'll then, add our yogurt, mustard, ketchup, and Worcestershire Sauce to our ground beef mixture and will stir.

'

Next, we'll spray our baking dish with cooking spray and will preheat our oven to 350°F.

We'll then, spread our beef mixture evenly into all sides of our dish.

Next, we'll place our bacon over our ground beef mixture.

While our dish is resting, we'll place our eggs in our mixing bowl and will beat until completely whipped.

Next, we'll add our heavy whipping cream, hot sauce, pepper, and will stir.

We'll then, evenly pour our egg mixture over our ground beef mixture.'

Next, we'll evenly spread our mushrooms on top of our new mixture.

Finally, we'll top our dish with a generous amount of shredded cheese. As you can tell from our previous posts, we LOVE our cheese.  πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

We'll then, place our dish in our oven and will bake for 30 minutes, or until our cheese has browned and our quiche-erole doesn't jiggle.

Voila!!!

Our dish has finished baking!

We'll allow our dish to rest for about 10 minutes or so. This will help our quiche-erole to set, which will enable us to slice our mixture a little easier.

As we're cutting into our quiche-erole, we are drooling, anticipating our yummy and gooey meal that we're about to enjoy for dinner.

Before devouring our dish, however, we're going to finely chop a sprig of dill and will sprinkle over our slice of joy.

Each bite tastes like a bacon cheeseburger with mustard and cheese. Our mixture is creamy and cheesy and just makes our mouths water.

We hope you enjoy our low-carb dish, as much as we do.

Bon Apetit!
